Ines has been the face of glamour campaigns from Madrid to Marbella for fourteen years, and she knows every angle a mirror can give her. Tonight the dressing room is hers, and so is the pace.

Ines grew up in Seville, where the heat teaches you to move slowly and look straight at people. She took that walk to Madrid, and fourteen years later it is still the slowest, most expensive walk in Spanish glamour.

She has shot gold-lit perfume campaigns in a palace courtyard in Granada, a swimwear-and-diamonds story on a Marbella terrace, and a calendar so admired that a hotel in Cádiz framed every month of it in its bar. She does her own ponytail. She has done it in nine seconds in a moving car.

At thirty-four she wants fewer bookings and better ones, and an agency that understands glamour is a craft, not an accident. PowerScout's scout found her between looks in a mirrored dressing room and said exactly four sentences, all of them about lighting. She liked that. The contract was settled over coffee in Madrid a fortnight ago, her terms in every clause, her signature with a flourish.

Tonight was the test shoot: the mirrored dressing room of an old Madrid theatre, gold frames, bulb lights, a red velvet chaise and every reflection of her at once. He shot for an hour. Then she told him to set the camera on the counter and sit down. Nothing about tonight is owed and nothing is traded; she simply likes a man who knows when to stop working.

She is at the mirror now in a red satin gown, unhooking one gold hoop, and she is watching him in the glass instead of turning around.
