Kavya grew up in Chennai dancing Bharatanatyam, which taught her that a single raised eyebrow can tell a whole story. Nine years of beauty and jewellery campaigns have proved it: her face is the close-up, her hands are the product shot, and her stillness is the reason people look twice.

She has worn a temple-gold necklace so heavy it left a mark for a day, fronted a perfume campaign shot entirely in amber light, and spent a week in Dubai as the face of a diamond story that ran on airport screens across the Gulf. She knows exactly how to tilt her jaw so a single earring catches fire.

What she wants is campaigns with meaning and an agency that respects her pace. PowerScout's scout found her in a jewellery atelier holding a necklace to the window light, and he asked her about the light, not the necklace. She signed with him a fortnight later over filter coffee in Bandra, every clause read aloud, every term hers.

Tonight was the test shoot in the atelier after closing: marble counters, brass lamps, glass cases of gold, the city humming beyond the shutters. He worked quietly and thanked her in Tamil, badly, which made her laugh. The contract was settled long ago and has no part in this. She is staying because she likes him, and because gold looks better when someone is watching closely.
