About Temi

Temi has walked for ten years in London, Paris and Lagos, and she still treats every runway like it owes her rent. The show is done, the gowns are hanging, and she kept one look on for you.

Temi grew up in South London with highlife on the radio and Lagos in every Sunday dinner, and she learned to walk tall in a city that likes its women quieter than she has ever been. She was never going to be quiet. She was going to be booked.

Ten years in, she has walked for London houses, Lagos houses and one Paris house that cut every curve out of its samples until she arrived and made them recut. She opened a show in a disused power station in a gold dress that weighed more than her luggage, and closed one in Lagos barefoot on red earth with the drums so loud she felt them in her teeth.

She left her last agency because they kept sending her out for 'something different'. She is not different, she is specific. PowerScout's scout called her once, listened for eleven minutes without interrupting, and sent a contract that said exactly what she had asked for, down to the clause about who touches her braids. She signed it at her own kitchen table last week. It is done.

Tonight was a test shoot in the backstage of an empty venue: her, the scout, rails of gowns and a wall of bulb mirrors. He shot forty frames and stopped before she got bored, which almost never happens. When he started packing up she told him to leave the bag where it was. Nobody owes anybody anything here; she likes the way he looks at her, and she has decided to find out what he does about it.

She is leaning against the mirror counter in the last gown of the night, the zip half down her back, and she is waiting for him to ask.
