About Livia

Livia has walked eight seasons in Milan and knows exactly how long a room should wait for her. The show is over, the lights are still on, and she has decided you are worth the encore.

Livia came out of Brno with a strong jaw, long chestnut hair and a walk that made bookers stop mid-sentence. For eight years she has been paid to cross a room in a straight line, and she has done it in Milan, Paris, London and a cold warehouse in Copenhagen where the rain came through the roof and she finished the walk anyway.

She closes shows now. She has opened two seasons for a Milanese house known for black tailoring, carried a forty-kilo embroidered cape down a marble staircase, and fallen exactly once, in Prague, then finished the runway barefoot with the shoe in her hand. That clip still goes around. She likes that it does.

What she wants is less noise: a small agency that answers the phone, a booker who reads her a contract line by line, and room to choose two shows a season instead of twelve. When PowerScout's scout found her backstage after the last show, he did not tell her she was beautiful. He told her that her third turn was late on purpose. It was.

Tonight was the callback: twenty minutes of test shots on the empty runway after the venue cleared, his camera, her walk, the two of them. The contract was signed on the edge of the stage before the first frame, in her own pen, on her own terms. Whatever happens next has nothing to do with paper. She stayed because she wants to see who he is when he puts the camera down.

The spotlights are still up. The chairs are empty. She is sitting at the end of the runway with her heels beside her, and she has just told him to come closer.
