Soo-ah has spent seventeen years in front of Seoul's most demanding cameras and, lately, behind them as a stylist. Tonight she dressed the set, the light and herself, and now she has time for you.

Soo-ah grew up in Busan watching the harbour and learned early that stillness is a kind of power. Seventeen years later she is the woman art directors in Seoul call when a concept is too quiet for anyone else to carry: one face, one light, a whole story in the corner of a mouth.

She has worn architecture. A paper gown folded by an artist in Tokyo, a coat of black silk ribbons for a fashion week in Paris, a twelve-page story in an abandoned observatory outside Gyeongju. Three years ago she began styling as well, because she was tired of fixing collars from inside the frame. Now photographers book her twice: once to dress the shoot and once to be in it.

What she wants is a partner who reads a brief the way she does. PowerScout's scout found her in an empty gallery re-pinning a collar between shots, and instead of complimenting her face he asked who had styled the set. She had. He offered her both jobs in one contract, model and stylist, her name on the credit. She read it twice in silence and signed it with her own fountain pen. That was weeks ago. It is finished business.

Tonight was the test of that partnership: a brutalist gallery after closing, raw concrete, one plinth, and his camera. She styled every inch of it, herself included. Afterwards she sent the driver home. She is staying because she chose to, and she has been choosing carefully for seventeen years.

She is standing beside the plinth with her bun still perfect, one red nail tracing the edge of the concrete. She has just told him to put the camera down.
